New Prints!

Since Spring is officially over and yesterday was the first day of Summer, I thought I'd design a special print to celebrate!
This one has replaced the Spring print in the shop and is now on sale for $9.99.

Additionally, just to mix things up a bit, I've designed two more prints....
The first is my Southern Pineapple print in honor of southern hospitality.  I just love southern culture and wanted to design something that would sum it all up.
Don't you love the quote?!
:)
My grandmother says this all the time--a true, hospitable, southern woman, so this one's for her.

And last, but certainly not least, another bird print to add to the collection.
This time with a quote from Maya Angelou...
Both of these are also available for purchase in the shop.

If you haven't checked out the cleverness collection lately, here's a taste.
All art prints are $9.99, sized 8x10 and make great gifts!

This and That

 {Currently listening to: Adele}

So, I've been checking out The Graphics Fairy a lot lately...great little blog {actually, big blog} with lots and lots of vintage clip art.  You can get really crafty with clip art, but I've been thinking, pillow decal.  Here are a couple of the images from today's post:

She also has other vintage post cards and printables like this:

It's, pretty much, an ahh-mazing resource.

On another random note, I had a delish sandwich the other day that I can't help but talk about...4 words: Curry Chicken + Mango Chutney = Yummmmm!
Know a good Curry Chicken Salad recipe?  Please share.  It really is time for all of those spring salad recipes to re-surface!

Have a warm and sunny Thursday!

Scripture Art

You may have noticed that I love this new blog, Jones Design Company.  She has great ideas and user friendly tutorials on her blog.  She recently posted a picture of her re-arranged office and one of the pictures highlighted some of her art work:
This lamp print in particular was really cool:

I realized that she actually sells this lamp print, and other art prints like it on her website.

I love them! ...and for $14.95, you can't go wrong.
I really like the bird print {of course}.

Just wanted to share the wealth!  Happy Thursday!

Free Art!

So we all love free stuff, right!?  Well Jane over at Finding Fabulous shared this link to Vintage Printables the other day on her blog.  It's a website that offers free, high resolution printables of vintage artwork!  While I LOVE my botanical prints from France, it's not everyday that you have a friend who is traveling to Europe and can get you the hook-up.

So, if you're interested in some fun, FREE, vintage artwork, check it out!  Here are some samples of what's available.

Looking forward to some fun fall crafts!
Happy Tuesday!

Paris is for Lovers

So, remember when I told you that a friend of mine was traveling to France and was going to pick-up some botanical prints for me?!  Well, here they are!  Aren't they beautiful!?

I can't wait to hang them up in my house!  Thanks, Amy!

Have a very French, floral Friday!

DIY Art

If you're looking for that extra something in a room, but you don't want to pay those exorbitant prices for framed art, try framing fabric.  You can use any frame you'd like--you may have an old one in the closet that just needs a new coat of paint or, you could pick one up at a garage sale or thrift store.  Frames without the art are much cheaper!

Then, go to your local fabric or craft store and peruse their fabric remnant section.  A lot of times, those last, discounted, scrap pieces of fabric are the perfect size for a frame--even some larger frames.  There are so many patterns and colors of fabrics that your options are endless and inexpensive!

Here are a couple of frames that I have in my house with fabric.  I definitely got the piece of fabric that I used for these in the remnant section of Jo-anns and I could use it in two large frames!

Here are some other ideas for framed fabric:

These are bandannas!

These are the same dollar store frames that I used for this project.

Have a fun, DIY project day!

The Cutest Frames You Ever Saw!

One of my college roommates shares a lot of the same cleverness that I enjoy.  She was an English major like I was, enjoys painting (...pretty much, self-taught), and is pretty crafty as well--I guess that's why we got along so well as roommates.  She grew-up in Tennessee and, I think, this affects a lot of her style.

Anyway, her husband is pretty handy as well.  He made her the coolest mantel when they moved into their new house and, more recently, they collaborated on these wonderful picture frames.

Since I just can't help myself when I see something that's cute and handmade, I wanted to share it with you all as well.

I think a frame like this would look cute in any room of the house, but especially in a child's room.

If you're interested in purchasing one, you can visit her etsy page- Rustic Wooden Picture Frame.  For $20, these are a steal!

Happy Tuesday!

Nature is the Best Source of Thrify Decor

So, I follow this wonderful blog called Little Green Notebook and I'd been reading it for a couple of months when the writer posted a picture of these amazing leaf prints

I loved the botanical feel that these prints added to the room and was immediately inspired to create some of my own.  Obviously, these were a bit large, and purchasing a frame that size would've cost more than I wanted to invest, so I took a trip to Dollar Tree to find out what cute frames they had.

I'd decided that I wanted to hang these in my guest room since it had more of a "garden/vintage" feel, so I chose a black frame that already had a subtle vine pattered carved in it.  The frame was small, only large enough for a 4x6 photo, so I bought 4 and figured I'd hang them in groupings.

Now, I just had to find the plants.  It wasn't hard to locate 4 different varieties of ferns and leaves, so once I'd found my four, I pressed and dried them.

This part was easy, in essence, but I'm completely impatient, so it was actually the hardest part for me.  If you've never dried plants before, you should know that all you need is a thick, heavy book and some wax paper. You could also use newspaper or something absorbent that prevents the plant from sticking once any moisture is released.  Once you've got your plants and pressing materials, lay the plant flat in between two pieces of drying paper (wax or newspaper) and then lay it flat in the middle of the book....and wait.  It usually takes about 10 days to 2 weeks but, depending on the plant, it could take longer, so be careful!  (If you pull the plant too early, before it's completely dried out, once it is mounted, it could discolor.)

I'd already cut some neutral matte board to use for backing, so when the leaves were ready, I simply placed them in the frame with the backing and hung them on the wall.  Here is the finished product.

I love the way that they look in the room and the project cost under $10!  Here are some other leaf/botanical prints that I liked.

Here's that great scrapbook paper background again--very fallish

This one uses double paned frames-very nice!

If you don't have the patience to find and dry live plants, then you could always purchase a book of botanicals and frame some of the pages.

What a cute and easy framing idea!

A friend of mine is traveling to France next week and I've requested some botanical prints.  Apparently they're much less expensive over there, so I am super excited to see what she brings back! Happy framing!
